Meal inspired by Stone Ruination IPA
So here's the story behind the amazing meal I made tonight. Yesterday I was just thinking, wow, Ruination IPA sounds real good. I haven't had it in a WHILE and it's definitely one of the best IPA's you can have. So I started thinking I wanted to eat something that goes good with it. Well, when I drink Ruination I can often detect quite strong mango flavors along with the citrusy and piney flavors. So I thought...mango salsa!
Looking up mango salsa recipes I came to the conclusion to make mango salsa and salmon. And Given the warmer weather after all this rain it sounded like a great fresh and refreshing dish. So, the making happened and then the eating happened. And I could not have been more blown away. My first bite was the salmon, followed by some of the mango salsa then a sip of the Ruination. What happened next was fantastic. MANGO! So much mango flavor swirling around and other indescribable things going on. It was so good. My assumptions were correct. Ruination with mango will bring out the mango flavors in the ruination even more. It was nuts. I would actually get MORE mango flavor when I would sip the beer than was there when i would eat just the mango.
Anyway, it was quite enjoyable and oh yeah my side dish I just went with Trader Joe's ridged salt and pepper potato chips and was it ever the perfect complement. If you've never had those chips they're ridiculous. Salt, and three kinds of pepper including jalapeno pepper. The spicy blast of the chips on top of the sweet and buttery flavors from the salsa and salmon...awesome contrast. I am in no way an expert foodie or anyone to really be making these statements...but for what it's worth I sure was happy after the meal. See pics on my facebook.
Oh wait I almost forgot dessert. I'm going to melt some Belgian dark chocolate and dip some strawberries in it. Sounds like it should be good. I'll add those pictures later. I was just excited to post this haha.
